EMDR Therapy at Nightingale Wellness
Trauma can leave deep emotional scars that impact every aspect of your life, but healing is possible with the right support.
EMDR therapy is a powerful and evidence-based approach to trauma treatment that can help you process and integrate distressing memories, reduce symptoms and increase your well-being.
There are 8 stages to EMDR therapy. They include:
Reviewing your history of trauma and creating a plan for how we will process the events.
Preparation for EMDR, which includes learning coping skills and relaxation techniques so that you feel prepared to revisit the memories.
We’ll identify the specific memory, images, beliefs and sensations related to the trauma
Desensitizing the memory and reducing the level of distress through bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping).
When the distress of the memory is reduced, we increase the strength of positive beliefs and resources that support your healing and well-being.
Body scan to ensure that any residual physical tension has been fully processed and released.
Do calming skills to end session
Check in during the next session to discuss progress and any new insights
